Members of Nigeria Union of Local Government Employees,Abia State Chapter have been urged to be dedicated to their duties as the present administration under the able leadership of Governor Alex Otti places high premium on their welfare.
The Secretary to Abia State Government Prof. Kenneth kalu who stated this when he received in audience the executive members of Nigeria Union of Local government Employees who paid a courtesy visit to him reminded the members that they are critical component of Government, stressing that the present administration has come to rebuild the state for the good of all.
Prof kalu enjoined them to embrace and support the ongoing verification exercise which is geared towards identifying the actual workforce for effective operation.
The SSG further assured them that their request will be looked into and advised them to make sincerity of purpose their watchword for effective and efficient service delivery.
Earlier in his speech, the chairman NULGE Abia state,Mr Kenneth Nwasuka said they came to familiarize with the present Government, and pledged their unalloyed support to the present administration.
He appealed to Government to ensure the payment of their May and June salaries as well as approve the payment of consequential salary adjustment of ten thousand naira made by the immediate past administration to Local Government workers in the spirit of equity.
In another development, Public and Civil Servants in the state have been advised to take their duties seriously as the State will not tolerate any form of inefficiency in the discharge of their duties.
The state Acting Head of Service, Lady Joy Maduka gave the advice during her familiarization visit to some of the Ministries, Departments and Agencies in the state, maintained that her office attached much interest much interest in punctuality and seriousness to duty, pointing out that any worker who indulges in lateness to work, truancy and absenteeism will be dealt with according to the civil service rules
Lady Maduka who described the present Administration in the State as Service Oriented which is set out for all round transformation with the view of returning Abia to the path of greatness, urged Abia workforce to support and reciprocate the kind gesture of the Governor through their hard work commitment.
The HOS who noted that the Government is not set out to witch hunt any worker, warned against loitering and hawking during office hours, even as she urged them to remain productive so as to take the state to a greater height.
In their separate responses, the Auditor General,Mr Ngwabia, Temple Nwosu among others, thanked the Governor,Dr Governor Alex Otti for being gender sensitive and expressed hope that the Acting Head of Service will justify the trust reposed in her and assured of support to the new administration.
