The chairmen of the African Democratic Party( ADC), across the 17 Local Government Areas of Abia State, have passed a vote of confidence on the State Chairman, Hon Don Norman Obinna, stating that the party is not in crisis.
Arising from the meeting of the Abia State Chapter of the ADC Local Government Chairmen held in Umuahia, the LGA chairmen stated that Hon Obinna has been piloting the affairs of the party in the state within the space of five months.
The Chairmen agreed that the ADC State Chairman has been outstanding in handling the affairs of the party, having successfully conducted the Ward, Local Government and State Congresses and also conducting a peaceful Party Primaries.
The Chairmen in a communique duly signed by the seventeen LGA chairmen,stated that the entire seventeen Local Government party Chairmen are standing behind the chairmanship of Hon Don Norman Obinna, maintaining that the State Chairman remains the authentic chairman of the ADC in Abia.
Reacting to the alleged suspension of Hon Obinna as the State party chairman, the LGA Chairmen for Ukwa East Hon Morgan Alfred and his Ukwa West counterpart, Comr Noble Uche,who spoke on behalf of other LGA party Chairmen, said Abians should disregard the rumour peddling around that Hon Obinna has been suspended as the Abia ADC chairman, saying that Hon Obinna was never suspended, calling on them not to relent in their support for the party.
According to them, before a state chairman can be removed from office,it must first of all go through some laid down procedures of which in the case of Hon Obinna no official procedure was done, adding that the various LGA Chairmen were never involved in any suspension process against Hon Obinna.
They described Hon Obinna as a vibrant State Chairman that has brought tremendous changes to the party which according to them was dead before, stressing that the peddlers of the alleged suspension should desist forthwith or face the wrath of the party.
Recall that few days ago, a letter was circulating on various platforms of the social media, alleging that the State Chairman of the African Democratic Party(ADC), in Abia, has been suspended, following alleged embezzlement and misappropriation of party funds.
