Abia Assembly concludes screening, charges appointees; sets committee on Aba North council conflict

The Abia State House of Assembly has concluded the screening process of the Commissioner nominees, Abia State Civil Service Commission and Local service Commission with a charge to serve the State with every sense of diligence and selflessness.

Speaker of the House, Rt. Hon. Chinedum Orji who gave the charge during plenary today said the only person remaining is the Chairman of the Abia State Service Commission, Mrs. Elizabeth Esochaghi, whom was unavoidably absent due to health challenge.

He informed that whenever she recovers, that the House of Assembly will legitimately conduct same screening on her.

The last batch of Commissioner nominees screened today were, Chief Kingsley Eke Emeaga, Chief Eze Samuel Nwanganga, Mr. Prince Obinna Okey, Mr. Chisom Felix Nwachukwu and Sir. Chidi Onwujiuba, Mr. Chidiebere Uwagwu Kalu, Barr. Chinenye Chinyere Emelogu, and Barr. Charles Esonu.

Also members of the Local Government Service Commission, led by Mr. Victor Azumara as the Chairman and members of the Abia State Service Commission were equally screened by the lawmakers.

In another development, the House of Assembly, also sets an Adhoc Committee that would look into a matter of urgent public importance raised by the member representing Aba North State Constituency, Hon. Aaron Uzodike, during plenary yesterday over conflicts that ensued between Aba North Local Government Council Chairman and his surbordinates that led to the lockdown of the council.

The Adhoc Committee members are
Rt. Hon. Chikwendu Kalu, Hon. Okey Igwe, Hon. Ginger Onwusibe, and Hon. Chukwudi Apugo.

The Speaker mandated the committee to ensure the matter is resolved and report back to the House within one week.
