Governor Okezie Ikpeazu has officially inaugurated the Abia State Council of Traditional Rulers that will superintend over the affairs of Traditional Rulers in the state with HRM,Eze Joseph Ndubuisi Nwabeke of Eziama Ntigha Autonomous Community in Isiala Ngwa North LGA as Chairman.
Other members of the Council include,
HRM Eze Kalu Kalu Ogbu,Anachoken of Abiriba, 1st Deputy Chairman.
HRH Eze Dr Harry Nnamdi Ugwuala,Ugwu 1 of Isiala Ugwu Aut. Community,Ugwunagbo,2nd Deputy Chairman, while
HRH Eze Godwin Chinedu Onwuka, Towe of Umutowe Aut Community in Umuahia South LGA is to serve as 3rd Deputy Chairman.
Speaking at the event held at the Micheal Okpara Auditorium, Umuahia, Governor Ikpeazu noted that the inauguration was imperative as it will enable the state government have a channel of communication through which it can reach traditional rulers in the state.
Ikpeazu while acknowledging the corporation of the last leadership of the Council under Eze Eberechi Dick, commended traditional rulers in the state for their contributions in the development of their various communities especially in areas of security, Agriculture, distribution of farm implements as well as ensuring harmoniums relationship among the people.
He urged all traditional rulers in the state to continue to extend the same cooperation to the newly inaugurated council to enable them succeed in their assignment in addition to ensuring that there is no rancour amongst the ranks of traditional rulers in the state.
Governor Ikpeazu while wishing them a successful reign, said his administration will continue to rely on the advice of the traditional rulers and ensure that there is peace in the various communities in the state so that Abia will remain the most peaceful state.
In his acceptance speech on behalf of his Deputies,the Chairman,Abia State Council of Traditional Rulers,Eze Joseph Ndubuisi Nwabeke, expressed happiness over the responsibility vested on them, describing it as a call to serve.
He assured that the new council will work hard to protect the interest of Traditional Rulers in the state as well as their subject.
