Guber polls: Body of students union endorses Governor Ikpeazu for second term

 

Leadership of Students Union Executives in various tertiary institutions in Abia State have reaffirmed their commitment towards ensuring the reelection of Governor Okezie Ikpeazu come March 9, 2019 governorship election.

 

The students unions leaders who spoke to journalists in Umuahia said that their decision was based on the good performance of the governor and the need to uphold the Abia Charter of Equity.

 

Speaking to journalists in Umuahia, the President, Students Union Government, Abia State University (ABSU), Uturu, Comrade Chukwunyere Onyenso said that they came to reaffirm their support and work for the governor’s reelection based on the giant strides the state has witnessed in the last four years.

Rechoing the submission, the SUG President, Michael Okpara University of Agriculture, Umudike (MOUAU), Comrade Ewa Austin Chairman, NASS Joint Campus Council,Comrae Frank Orji, the Abia State NASS representative, Comrade Modester Okolie, National President, Federation of Ngwa Students Association, Comrade Okwuoma Kelechi and representative of Abia students in diaspora, University of Maidugri chapter, Comrade James Obasi ackwnoledged the great contributions of the governor particularly in area of education which they noted had made him an educational friendly governor.

 

They urged Abians to come out enmass and return the governor for a second term to enable the people continue to enjoy good governance and dividends of democracy from the governor’s legacy projects.

Comrade Orji debunked the Allegationof the body endorsing the APC governorship candidate stating that they students bodies in the state cannot afford to abandon the governor because of his good gesture stating that their relationship is like that of a siasame twins.

 

In a related, the special assistant to the governor on student affairs, Comrade Ndom Chibuzo has commended the body of students unions for their foresightedness in adopting the governor for the second term assuring them that the governor would continue to attach great priority to their welfare.
