The Labour Party candidate for Bende Federal Constituency, Dr Chimaobi Desmond Anyaso, has joined teachers in Bende and across Abia State to commemorate the 2026 World Teachers’ Day, recognising their contributions to education and human capital development.
The celebration, organised by the Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT), Abia State Wing, was held on Monday, October 5, at the Event Centre, Isi Gate, Umuahia, with the theme, “Standing With Teachers: 60 Years of Protecting the Profession, Advancing its Status and Shaping our Futures.”

Speaking on the occasion, Anyaso congratulated teachers in Bende and Abia State, describing their dedication, resilience and commitment to duty as important to the development of society.
He said teachers play a vital role in educating and shaping future generations, adding that their sacrifices deserve recognition and support.
According to him, the gesture was part of his continued support for initiatives aimed at promoting the welfare, dignity and professional development of teachers.
The event had the Abia State Governor, Dr Alex Otti, OFR, as Special Guest of Honour, while the Commissioner for Basic and Secondary Education, Elder Goodluck Ubochi, served as Chairman of the occasion.
