State Lawmaker Empowers 60 Students in Isiala Ngwa South Constituency

Member representing Isiala Ngwa South State Constituency, Hon. Rowland Chinwendu Dennis, has empowered not fewer than 60 students from his Constituency through the Ugwumba Education Trust Foundation with a charge to take their education seriously as it is the key to any developed nation.

Hon. Dennis who stated this during an empowerment programme powered by his foundation known as Ugwumba Education Trust Fund, said the idea is not politically motivated but a natural philanthropic way of giving back to the society by promoting education among the youths.

The lawmaker while fielding questions from newsmen disclosed that this bursary empowerment scheme is his first outing as a legislator adding that the Artisans, widows and Agricultural empowerment programmes are his laid down strategies of delivering quality dividends of democracy.

He said he would not relent on supporting the youths of his Constituency in their education pursuit adding that the bursary empowerment will be an annual event for his constituents and would do everything within his reach to reward hardwork from the deserving students.

Earlier in his address, the Chairman on the occasion and Board member of the Ugwumba Education Trust fund foundation, Mr. Eze Adindu Ph.D, said, the foundation was inaugurated few months ago with the vision to delivering educational empowerment to the youths in Isiala Ngwa South.

Eze informed that the Foundation members selected 60 youths across the political blocs that make up Isiala Ngwa South, through meritocracy and indigent ones to be among the first beneficiaries.

The beneficiaries were 12 students in the tertiary institution who received cash bursary of #30,000 each, 16 public Secondary school students received #30,000 each for WAEC registration and 32 students received #20,000 each for UTME-JAMB registration.

Mr. Eze, also, noted that they have plans for public Primary School pupils which will form a part of the second phase of the empowerment adding that arrangement to initiate quiz competitions and other education related empowerment among selected schools in Isiala Ngwa South Local Government is in top gear.

Meanwhile, the Deputy Director General of Ugwumba Education Foundation, on behalf of the Trustee members, Barr. Chinomso Nwokocha, lauded the lawmaker for his achievement so far since elected as their representative and expressed optimism that he would end his tenure successfully.

Speaking on behalf of the beneficiaries, Master, Adindu Prince Chizuruoke, described the empowerment by the member representing Isiala Ngwa South as a good innovation, and one that will spur the youths in their respective education pursuit and prayed God to bless him immensely
