SSG organizes Capacity Building Workshop for Cabinet office staff

 

Building a highly skilled and effective workforce capable of delivering exceptional governance and public service is a critical priority for the present administration.

The Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Professor Kenneth Kalu, emphasized this at the opening ceremony of a two-day Capacity Building Workshop organized by his office for the staff of the Cabinet Office. The workshop, themed “Cabinet Foundational Skills in Cabinet Operations, Processes, and Governance for Effective and Efficient Service Delivery,” was held at Golden Olive Hotel, Umuahia,Abia State.

Professor Kalu stated that the workshop aims to equip participants with essential skills and knowledge to enhance their performance and improve service delivery in the cabinet.

“The capacity-building initiative is crucial in achieving the state government’s vision of resetting and rebuilding Abia State for the benefit of all,” he said. He urged participants to take full advantage of the training to enhance their professional skills.

In their goodwill messages, Pastor Caleb Ajagba, the Chief of Staff, and Prince Okey Kanu, Commissioner for Information, commended the SSG for the initiative. They encouraged participants to utilize the opportunity to improve their efficiency and effectiveness in governance.

The State Head of Service, Mr. Benson Ojeikere, also called on attendees to maximize the training by equipping themselves with functional skills for improved service delivery.

Welcoming participants, the Permanent Secretary of the Office of the SSG, Dr. Godwin Okezue, noted that the workshop was designed to help staff leverage the experience of seasoned facilitators and apply foundational knowledge in their roles.

The two-day workshop featured lectures on minutes and report writing in public service, foundational skills in cabinet office operations, and confidentiality in service.

The Lead Facilitator, Mac John Nwobiala, a retired Federal Permanent Secretary, alongside other experienced resource persons from the Federal Cabinet Office, delivered insightful sessions.
