SSG Advocates for Increased Revenue Allocation to Support Abia’s Infrastructural Development

 

The Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Prof. Kenneth Kalu, has called for an increase in revenue allocation to bolster the ongoing infrastructural development projects across Abia State.

Prof. Kalu made this appeal during a courtesy visit by a delegation from the Revenue Mobilization Allocation and Fiscal Commission (RMAFC), Abuja, to his office. He assured the team of the state government’s unwavering support and cooperation in facilitating their assignments in Abia.

Highlighting the achievements of Governor Alex Otti’s administration over the past two years, Prof. Kalu emphasized the need for enhanced revenue allocation to sustain the state’s progress and drive further development.

In her remarks, Nkechi Otti, the Federal Commissioner representing Abia at the RMAFC, explained that their visit aimed to engage with critical stakeholders on revenue-related matters. She outlined RMAFC’s responsibilities, which include determining the revenue-sharing formula among federal, state, and local governments, as well as advising governments on fiscal efficiency and strategies to boost revenue generation.

During the visit, she commended Governor Otti for the administration’s legacy projects and assured that the RMAFC team would interact with relevant ministries, agencies, and stakeholders to fulfill their mandate effectively.

Expressing gratitude, Mrs. Florence Okon, an Assistant Director at RMAFC, lauded the governor for his transformative projects and prayed for continued success and divine guidance for the administration’s efforts.

The meeting was attended by the Commissioner for Finance, Mr. Uwaoma Ukandu; the Permanent Secretary in the Office of the SSG, Dr. Godwin Okezue; and the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Finance, Mrs. Chianakwalam Obi.
