The Chairman, House Committee on Climate Change, Federal House of Representatives, National Assembly Abuja, Rep. Chris Nkwonta has decried the inhumane service delivery at Maitama General Hospital, Abuja.

The member representing Ukwa-East/West Federal Constituency, who disclosed this yesterday during his presentation of a petition against the Chief Medical Director and Management of Maitama General Hospital, Abuja over alleged unethical, inhumane and unwarranted refusal, negligence and outright denial and treatment to a “one chance” victim named; Miss Greatness Oluronfemi leading to her untimely death.

The petition which was signed by Moyosoluwa Oladipo, On behalf of the group; Young African Leaders Initiative (YALI) Abuja and forwarded to the National Assembly through Hon. Nkwonta, urged the House of Representatives to investigate the untimely death of the late Olorunfemi who was their member.

The petition further recalled that on the 26th of September, 2023, criminals abducted the late Greatness Olorunfemi when she boarded a taxi in Abuja.

The hoodlums in the “one chance” operation assaulted her, beating her severally with guns and taking her debit cards and enraged that there was not much money in the account, they pushed her out and a moving vehicle ran over her.

They said ‘a good Samaritan’ who witnessed the incident rushed her to the Maitama General Hospital for emergency care but unfortunately, on getting there, the hospital refused to attend to her.

We have evidence that she was alive when she was rushed to the hospital. Some reports say the hospital refused to attend to her because they needed police report and Greatness Olorunfemi died as a result of the trauma shortly after that and the corpse is still at the Maitama General Hospital as we speak”, the petition further reads.

The group called on the members of the House of Representatives to initiate an enquiry into the complete sequence of events that led to her passing away and prevail on the FCT Police Authority to give the investigation of the case all it takes to track the criminals and bring them to book.
