PCRC holds first inter- denominational thanksgiving service, decorates Abia D.Gov.

Abia State Deputy Governor, Engr Ikechukwu Emetu, has been decorated as the Grand Patron of the Abia State Police Community Relations Committee, PCRC on the occasion of the 1st inter- denominational thanksgiving service and unveiling of proposed administrative block and award presentation held at Police Officers Mess, Umuahia.

Speaking during the occasion, Engr. Emetu, described the recognition as not only a personal honour but also a strong symbol of the collective partnership that exists between the government, law enforcement agencies, and Abia communities in ensuring peace and security in the State.

He pointed out that the PCRC has played a critical role over the years in bringing the gap between the police and the people, fostering trust, and ensuring that community policing becomes more effective and people- centered.

According to him, it is this proactive approach to security that makes Abia communities safer and encourages citizens to be more involved in the security of their neighborhoods.

“Security is the bedrock of any thriving society. Without peace and stability, no meaningful development can take place.

” I commend the Nigeria police force, especially, the Abia State command for it’s unwavering commitment to maintaining law and order, even the face of various challenges.

” PCRC’s collaboration with the police is a restaurant to the fact that security is a shared responsibility, one in which every citizen has a role to play”, Emetu said.

The Abia Deputy Governor who assured that the government of Abia State ably led. Dr Alex Otti would remain committed to supporting all efforts aimed at enhancing security across the State, said that Government recognized the importance of fostering a peaceful environment that allows business to thrive, students to learn , and our people to live their lives without fear.

He assured further that the government of Abia State will continue to work closely with the police, PCRC, and other security agencies to ensure that the tools needed to perform their duties effectively are available.

In his address, the Chairman Police Community Relationship Committee( PCRC) Abia State Command, Chief Iheanyi Igboanulam, appealed to the Abia government and general public to assist PCRC in their prioritized commitment towards community policing and engagements, for effective information dissemination and public awareness campaigns. actualizing their administrative office book and donations of vehicles for rapid responses.

He said that PCRC is a. Community policing based committee established by the leadership of Nigeria police force in 1984 to foster healthy relationship between police and the communities in a view to enhancing efficient and effective policing of Nigeria communities.

In an interview, the PCRC chairman for Akwete Area Command, Rev Augustine Ehiemere, who was recognized for his tireless contributions to the progress of PCRC in Obehie division and Akwete respectively, said he built the first administrative block for the Police in Obehie, while serving as the d
Divisioner Caretaker chairman of Obehie division, after which he was moved to be the chairman of Akwete Area Command.


Rev Ehiemere who doubles as a chieftain of the All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA), noted that the honour bestowed on him was well deserved, as he has made contributions to the development of PCRC in time past and had helped in bridging the gap between the police and the people of Akwete Area Command.

 

He added that the award is a call for more work, revealing that his leadership is targeting building a hall for Akwete Area Command, among other projects.


Also, Prince Adolphus Duru, who was honored as the patron of PCRC, said he had served meritoriously as a chairman of PCRC for eight years and all through his tenure, he made meaningful contributions, putting so much hardwork to ensure the group gains footing. He added that he has been able to raise people in the organization that can serve the group tirelessly and appreciated the State executive of PCRC for the honour done him.

Similarly, the former state chairman of PCRC, Ambassador Emma Nwosu, shared enthusiasm over the new PCRC leadership, expressing satisfaction with the direction of the organization under the watch of Chief Iheanyi Igboanulam, praying God to help him succeed and as well, record achievements that would surpass previous administrations,
