Jos Crisis: Abia State Govt Receive Students

 

 

Thirty five students of Abia State origin studying at the University of Jos, Plateau State,have arrived Umuahia, the state capital.

 

Recall that Governor Okezie Ikpeazu dispatched a team to the University of Jos,to evacuate students of Abia State origin who were stranded as a result of the recent violent crisis in Jos and subsequent closure of the institution. 

 

Receiving the students at Government House,the Chief of Staff to the Governor, Anthony Agbazuere observed that the state government pays priority attention to the safety and welfare of Abia students anywhere in the country.

 

Prof Agbazuere described the spate of killings in Jos as unfortunate and thanked God for preserving the lives of the students.

 

He urged them to remain loyal and supportive to the PDP led administration in the state. 

     

The Special Assistant to the Governor on Students Affairs, Mr Chibuzo Ndom who led the rescue team to the University of Jos, commended Governor Ikpeazu for his swift response to the request to evacuate the students.

 

Comrade Ndom described Governor Ikpeazu as the best Student friendly Governor in the South East who has the interest and well-being of Abia Students at heart. 

           

Also speaking, the President, National Association of Abia State Students, Unijos Chapter, Comrade Alozie ThankGod while appreciating the state government for their untiring efforts at ensuring their safe return to the state amidst all the security challenges, promised that they will remain good ambassadors of the state.

 

Some of the students who spoke to National Ambassador, including,Mr Boniface Izuchukwu and Chikezie George commended the state government for its prompt response and pleaded with the federal to restore peace in Jos so as to enable them complete their studies.
