The newly sworn-in member representing Bende North State Constituency, Hon Nnamdi Ibekwe, has given hint on the best way to reposition and revamp Abia economy, so it can be known, just the same way the South East was known in the 50s as the fastest growing economy in Nigeria.
In an interview with journalists in Umuahia, shortly after his inauguration into the 8th Abia House of Assembly, the Lawmaker opined that making people-industrialist oriented policies, have the capacity of driving the states’s economy to its peak, adding that such policies can relocate industries, businesses and even properties to Abia.
According to Hon Ibekwe, this was exactly the model used by the late Primer of the Eastern region, Michael Okpara, that helped in putting the South East on the world map, as one of the fastest growing economy in the federation.
He said the state government should reinvent such policies,so that Abia could be known and referred to an industrialist state among the comity of states.
Ibekwe, however, noted that anti people policies should be shunned, while much attention be given to policies that could drive the state’s economic potentials to it’s fullest.
He also appreciated his constituents, the people of Bende North for giving him the opportunity to serve, promising to make laws that would improve extensively on their wellbeing.
