Gov Ikpeazu Commends Church For Partnership With State Govt


Abia State Governor, Okezie Ikpeazu has commended the Men’s Ministries of the Assemblies of God Church, Umungasi Aba, off Aba Owerri road for partnering the state government and replicating the Cement Pavement Technology introduced by his government in constructing the road leading to their church.


Governor Ikpeazu who stated this while commissioning the road as part of activities marking the 2022 National Men’s Day of the church, described the Assemblies of God’s Church as veritable partners in the development agenda of the present adminstration and called on other churches across the state to emulate their good works.


The Governor noted that his administration introduced the Rigid Pavement Technology as a strategy to ensure longevity of roads adding that by embarking on the road project, the church has demonstrated love for their members and people of the state.


He promised that the state government would offset all debt incurred while constructing the rigid pavement road as well as commence asphalting of the road among others.


The Governor described the theme of their 2022 National Men’s Day programme, “Stand In The Gap”, as apt, saying that government needs individuals and groups that would stand in the gap to bring about the development of the State.


The PDP Governorship Candidate for the 2023 General Election, Professor Uche Ikonne, in his speech, commended the Church for their sustained prayers for the present adminstration which he said is the reason Abia has been adjudged the most peaceful state in the South East.


While lauding Governor Ikpeazu for his leadership acumen and infrastructural development across the state,Ikonne said the Governor has challenged him to do more for the state adding that he would revolutionalize the state if given the opportunity in 2023.


Also speaking, the Commissioner for Works, Barr. Bob Ogu appreciated the church for building the road with rigid pavement technology and informed that Governor Ikpeazu has fixed 80% of the roads in Aba. He assured that Governor Ikpeazu would not relent in delivering quality projects to the people of the state till 2023.


Earlier, the General Secretary of the Men’s Ministries of the Church, Bro. Chimaobi Umechuruba while noting that the national men’s day celebration offers them opportunity to work for God,thanked Governor Ikpeazu for coming to commission their road.
