Give Peace A Chance – Eyeh Benson Urges Amaewhule, 26 Others

Elder Statesman and a political observer, Eyeh Benson has in an interview with our reporter in Port Harcourt today calls on Hon. Martin Amaewhule and the 26 other lawmakers to reciprocate the peace moves of Governor Siminalayi Fubara and give peace a chance to enhance political and economic development in the state by working with the governor in order to give Rivers people the dividend of democracy they deserve.

He advised that the should leave pride and ego and allow peace to reign.

A lawyer who pleaded anonymity in an interview with our reporter said that the lawmakers should know that their status is still under litigation and that Fubara is still in charge of governance of Rivers State, and that there would be no much consequences if Governor Fubara refuses to obey the Apex Court judgement.

According to him, two consequences are available, first being content proceeding, which according to him is a criminal law and the Governor has immunity and the second is impeachment which is not feasible.

He stressed that Governor Fubara wants to show the world his peaceful disposition and that did not mean weakness.
He believes that the Governor would laugh last and better.

However, the recent development is that Hon. Amaewhule and the 26 other Lawmakers have carried the battle to the uncompromising Chief Judge of Rivers State and they move to remove him by all means, alleging age falsification, which would be handled by the NJC through a constituted panel. During the investigation, he will step down removing his wigs and other decorations. The barrister advises the Governor to act fast and become as desperate as the lawmakers who are using all means to fight him.
