Fubara gave the charge on yesterday (Wednesday, October 28), while declaring open the 126th, 127th and 128th combined quarterly meeting of the Rivers State Traditional Rulers Council in Port Harcourt.

He urged the monarchs to remain fathers to all, uphold their constitutional oaths and protect the cultural heritage of their communities, warning against actions capable of creating divisions and crises.

The governor also called on the traditional rulers to set aside personal interests and sentiments, stressing that justice, unity and peaceful coexistence were essential to the state’s stability and development.

On their welfare concerns, Fubara said delays in addressing some of the council’s previous requests were not attributable to the state government but to the council’s inability to put its affairs in order.

He reaffirmed his respect for the traditional institution, describing royal fathers as custodians of culture and a vital link between government and the grassroots.

The governor urged the council to ensure fruitful deliberations at the meeting and sustain its contributions to peace, stability and development across Rivers State.
