Former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai has dismissed rumors suggesting he has defected from the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) to the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
In a post on his X account on Sunday, El-Rufai described the reports as “patent lies” and announced that his lawyers would take legal action against those spreading the false claims.
He wrote, “Please disregard the patent lies and rumours about my political affiliation. I have referred the lead peddlers of the fake news for further action by my lawyers.”
An aide to the former governor also dismissed the claims, attributing them to mischief makers. The aide stated that as a key figure in the APC, El-Rufai would not switch political parties without making an official announcement.
