The new Anglican bishop of Umuahia Diocese, Rt. Revd. Geoffery Ibeabuchi has vowed to continue in the legacies of his predecessors so as to move the Anglican Church forward.
Rt Revd. Ibeabuchi who stated this to newsmen shortly after his enthronement service at the St. Stephen’s Cathedral Umuahia,as the third bishop of the diocese, said he would not only build on the physical growth of the church but would be committed to the preaching and teaching of the undiluted word of God, for the expansion of God’s Kingdom, with eternity in view.
The Cleric while expressing joy over the act of God in his life, called on members of the church to join hands with him to redeem the lost, salvage the church from all oppression of the devil through prayers and evangelism.
Reacting on the present security challenges facing the nation, the bishop enjoined Nigerians to embrace peace as well as holiness so that the evils in the society can be clamp down.
Meanwhile, the Accountant General of the state, Mr Kelechi Imeoria, while addressing the press, expressed his gladness towards the enthronement of the bishop whom he referred to as a brother and friend.
Mr. Imeoria recounted the qualities of the Incumbent bishop as one who is humble, a lover of God that is committed to the things of God, and also valiant in both spiritual and physical affairs of people around him, which he said attracted the large crowd that turned up for the ceremony.
Speaking further, he called out on the bishop to continue in the good work and not relent on the call of God upon his life, attesting to the fact that the wife of the bishop, Mrs Gospel Ibeabuchi would assist the bishop in advancing the word of God and also the Umuahia diocese with her name as ‘Gospel’.
Finally, the Accountant General stated that he was happy not only because his childhood friend was enthroned a bishop, but because the bishop copied his father’s antecedent which was worthy of emulation.
He further commended the Rt. Revd. Ibeabuchi for taking after his father’s footstep who was also a cleric in the Anglican church.
The Accountant General on a lighter note,revealed that after civil service, he might as well take after his own father’s footstep by becoming a minister of the gospel.
