Bende mayor, play host to Abia North Senatorial Zone flag off of 2024 farming season.

Abia state government has flagged off her 2024 farming season for Abia North Senatorial Zone.

Declaring the season open at Bende Local Government Council headquarters, Governor Otti, said that the launching has become imperative to encourage every Abian to go back to farming in order to cushion the effects of food insecurity in the state.

The Governor, represented by the commissioner for agriculture in the state Professor, Monica Ironkwe expressed that the initiative aligns with the state government policy to diversify the economy away from oil dependency using agriculture as a leading revenue generation for the state.

In his remarks, the mayor of Bende LGA, Barr. Chijioke Nwankwo said that it was a good thing that Bende LGA was chosen for the flag off.

Nwankwo, maintained that efforts are in top gear to mechanized farming in the council hence the visit of agric experts from Bulgarian government and CSS Integrated Farms Nassarawa to the council.

“We have also distributed special breed of rice seedlings and other farm inputs to local farmers to enhance yields” he said.

Meanwhile, the four council mayors of Isuikwuato, Ohafia, Umunneochi and Arochukwu LGAS in Abia North senatorial zone were present to participate in the flag offceremony.
