Attack On DG Abia PDP Campaign: Ikpeazu Demands Full Investigation

… Directs Abia CP To Ensure Assailant Is Made To Face Full Weight Of The Law

 

Following the attack on the Director General of the Professor Uche Ikonne Campaign Organization, Rt Hon Barrister Chinedum Elechi in Umuahia, the Abia State Governor, Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu has
demanded a thorough investigation into the incident.

Governor Ikpeazu who condemned  the attack,charged the Abia state Commissioner of Police, Mohammed Bala to ensure that the assailant is made to face the full weight of the law.

 

Recall that Elechi, a former Deputy Speaker of the State House of Assembly and also a former Commissioner in the state, was attacked by an alleged operative of the Ebonyi State Command of the Department of State Services (DSS) with a sharp machete leaving him with multiple machete cuts all over his body.

 

Describing the attack as “an inexplicable display of murderous barbarism”, Governor Ikpeazu in a statement through his Chief Press Secretary, Onyebuchi Ememanka, reiterated the commitment of his administration to ensure that criminals are not given space to operate in Abia State, especially as the political space gets set for serious activities.

 

The Governor, saluted the courage of the members of the public and men of the Nigeria Police who helped to overpower the assailant and recovered the instrument of attack and assured well meaning Abians of their safety at all times.

 

He expressed gratitude to God for sparing the life of Rt. Hon Elechi,  and wished him safe recovery.
