The People’s Democratic Party Governorship Candidate for Abia State,Prof Uche Ikonne, has vowed to transform Abia into a productive state with some high demand export products and services, as well as regain the leadership of the state in business.
Prof Ikonne disclosed that his government would be a source of change for Nigeria to diversify earnings and strengthen the Naira.
Making his remarks at the official opening of the UcheNdiAbia Digital Campaign Office in Umuahia, the PDP Governorship candidate said Abia’s economy would experience a boost under his watch with oil palm,ICT, leather and garment sectors becoming major export earners.
Ikonne stated that his job would ensure that “Our environment is great for business growth and especially exports in target sectors”.
He assured of equitable distribution of development,as well as, running participatory government, regardless of party affiliations.
The PDP Governorship candidate, however, reeled out his pillars of development to include Participatory Governance, Economic Development and Responsible Financial Management.
He said his vision and mission respectively would be for Abia State to become a true business leader in Nigeria and Africa at large and also to uplift the lives of Ndi Abia to world standards.
Ikonne further promised that the results of his administration would be a major step in the direction Abians desire, stating that Abia would witness a reverse rural- urban migration, excellent multimodal transportation and logistics infrastructure,as well as,a peaceful and economically empowered rural communities.
He said there would be a reinforced home grown security architecture, an even development on communities’ comparative advantage, a clean and beautiful Abia and also a productive engagement of the youths in economic activities.
Interacting with the Press,the PDP Abia Central Senatorial Candidate, Col Austin Akobundu, described the unveiling of the UcheNdiAbia Digital Campaign office as a smart infrastructure that would help the party to victory come 2023.
Data he said would play a major role in the 2023 general elections especially those from the various polling units, hence the importance of the digital office.
According to him, the collation of data is key and would help in polling unit management,as well as, help one to understand clearly the demographics of the area one would want to concentrate on, urging Abians to vote PDP come 2023.
