Abia Govt Makes U-turn, Withdraws List Of Newly Appointed Market Committee Exco

 

Barely 24 hours after it announced the appointment and constitution of management committee members for various markets in Aba and Umuahia, the Abia State Government, Wednesday, announced suspension of inuaguration and withdrawal of list of the newly appointed committee executives.

 

Recall that Governor Alex Otti had on Tuesday, through his Special Adviser on Trade and Commerce,Dr. Chimezie Ukaegbu,approved the appointment and constitution of the Management Committee Members for the various markets in Aba and Umuahia.

 

But, in a swift turn of events, the state government in a press release through the Special Adviser to the Governor on Trade and Commerce, Dr. Chimezie Ukaegbu announced the withdrawal of the list of those earlier appointed into the Management Committees of the various markets.

Although no reason was given for the suspension, government disclosed that a new date for the inauguration would be announced in due course.

 

Part of the press statement reads thus: “This is to inform the general public and, particularly, the various market groups in Aba and Umuahia, that the planned inauguration of the newly appointed Management Committee Members for markets, scheduled for Thursday, June 22, 2023, is hereby suspended.

 

“Government also by this notice, withdraws the list of those earlier appointed into the Management Committees of the various markets.

“A new date for the inauguration will be announced in due course”.
