Abia Government Cancels October Monthly Environmental Sanitation Exercise

The Abia State Government has cancelled the monthly environmental sanitation exercise scheduled for Saturday, October 31, 2026, across the state, urging residents to sustain environmental cleanliness despite the cancellation.

The state Commissioner for Environment, Mr Philemon Asonye Ogbonna, announced the cancellation in a press release issued by the ministry.

The government urged residents to continue keeping their homes, business premises, streets and immediate surroundings clean and healthy, stressing that environmental sanitation should be a daily responsibility rather than an activity observed only during the officially designated monthly exercise.

It called on Ndi Abia to ensure proper waste disposal, clear blocked drainage channels, maintain clean surroundings and desist from indiscriminate dumping of refuse.
