Senate President Bukola Saraki visited the hilltop mansion of former President Olusegun Obasanjo in Abeokuta, Ogun state capital, on Monday.
Accompanied by some of his associates, the nation’s number three citizen went into a meeting with the elder statesman.
At the end of the meeting, Saraki told journalists he was in Abeokuta to see Obasanjo because he missed the official opening of the multi -billion dollar project of the library.
He described the Library as a beautiful edifice that all Nigerians should be proud of.
“You know I missed the official opening of the library and that is why I have decided to come and see the place and honestly it is beautiful. We are very proud of what he has done here,” he said.
The visit comes five days after Saraki visited the Minna residence of former military President Ibrahim Babaginda.
The senate president also met with chairmen of 45 political parties last week.
Saraki’s trip to the influential Nigerians happened after he hinted at running for president.
The lawmaker defected from the All Progressives Congress (APC) to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) earlier in the month.
Obasanjo and Babginda have asked President Muhammadu Buhari not to seek reelection.
Both men issued statements where they expressed dissatisfaction with some crucial issues under Buhari.
