The wife of the Governor of Abia State, Mrs. Priscilla Otti, has welcomed the first baby of the year 2026 at the Akirika Ukwu Primary Healthcare Centre in Ukwa West Local Government Area.
The baby boy, Master Oluebubechi Nwatuobi Excessgrace, was born at exactly 12:43 a.m. on January 1, 2026, weighing 3 kilograms.
To celebrate the occasion, Mrs. Otti presented the baby and his mother with gifts, including bags of rice, milk, groundnut oil, sanitary items, and a cash donation. She said the gesture was to ensure the mother is well nourished during the nursing period.
Mrs. Otti described the birth as a joyful way to begin the new year and a positive indication that Abia State’s primary healthcare system is functional and improving.
She encouraged expectant and nursing mothers across the state to patronize government healthcare facilities, assuring them of quality care.
The First Lady also offered prayers for the newborn and urged the parents to raise him with strong moral values that would guide his growth and development.
The Commissioner for Health, Dr. Enoch Ogbonnaya Uche, commended Mrs. Otti for her continuous support in strengthening the health sector, in line with the reforms of Governor Alex Otti’s administration.
The Matron of the healthcare centre, Ms. Kasarachi Emmanuel, expressed gratitude for the First Lady’s visit and thoughtful donations.
Speaking on behalf of the family, the baby’s parents, Mr. Nwatuobi Chiagozie and Mrs. Blessing Chinagozie, from Itungwa in Obingwa Local Government Area, thanked Mrs. Otti for her kindness and for making their son’s birth a memorable one.
