The Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Professor Kenneth Kalu, has expressed appreciation to staff of the Office of the SSG for their sustained support in advancing the Governor’s vision and driving the state’s development agenda since his appointment.
Professor Kalu made this known during an interaction with staff, where he disclosed that he would be proceeding on a leave of absence following the approval of the Governor. He charged the workforce to see themselves as critical stakeholders in the system, entrusted with the responsibility of transforming the state’s narrative.
He emphasized that every staff member has a vital role to play in building a functional and progressive government, urging them to uphold honesty, sincerity, dedication, and professionalism in the discharge of their duties.

According to him, success does not come by chance but through deliberate and consistent effort, noting that hard work and integrity remain essential ingredients for achieving sustainable results in public service.
At the meeting, Professor Kalu formally introduced the newly appointed Acting Secretary to the State Government, Dr Emmanuel Meribole, and appealed to staff to accord him their full cooperation and support to enable him succeed in his assignment.
In his response, the Acting SSG, Dr Emmanuel Meribole, expressed gratitude to the substantive SSG for laying a strong leadership foundation in the office, assuring staff that the standards already established would be sustained. He pledged to work closely with them as a united team to deliver measurable results and urged continued commitment to supporting the Governor’s vision for the state.

In a vote of thanks, the Permanent Secretary, Office of the SSG, Dr Godwin Okezuo, commended Professor Kalu for his impactful leadership, particularly his role in providing a befitting office complex for staff. He pledged to uphold the legacies of Professor Kenneth Kalu and assured the Acting SSG of the staff’s maximum cooperation.
Speaking on behalf of the workforce, the Chairman of the Staff Welfare Association, Office of the SSG, Mr Wachuku Onyekachi, lauded Professor Kalu for the positive changes recorded under his leadership and assured him that the same level of support would be extended to the Acting SSG.
The meeting, which featured special prayers for Professor Kenneth Kalu and Dr Emmanuel Meribole, was attended by heads of all bureaus in the Office of the Secretary to the State Government.
