Abia Govt Pledges Support For NCS Human Resource Centre

 

 

 

 

Abia State Governor, Okezie Ikpeazu has assured that his adminstration will support the Human Resource Development Centre of the Nigeria Correctional Services (NCS), towards ensuring the successful completion of it’s Shoe and Garment Industry.

 

 

Governor Ikpeazu gave the assurance when he recieved the new Comptroller, Nigerian Correctional Services, Abia State Command, Julius Ezeukwu at Government House Umuahia.

 

He said that Abia is known as the home of Small And Medium Enterprises because of his administration’s giant strides in the leather and garment Industry.

 

The Governor who appreciated the strategic importance of the Nigerian Correctional Services as a centre for character reformation and reintegration, promised to support the new Comptroller to enable him excel in his duties.

Ikpeazu acknowleged the new dimensions of crime globally and stressed the need for all players in the system to be proactive and deploy science and technology in line with the 21st century demands.

 

 

He applauded the Officers of the Nigerian Correctional Services, Abia State Command for their hardwork and determination and encouraged them to continue to show courage and tenacity in the discharge of their duties.

 

Earlier in his address, the new Comptroller of the Nigeria Correctional Services Abia State Command, Julius Ezeukwu said that the Human Resource Development Centre is a major focus of the NCS aimed at meaningful reformation, rehabilitation and reintegration of the inmates on discharge from custody.

towards ensuring the successful completion of the Shoe and Garment industry at the Aba Medium Security Custodial Centre as well as the state government’s efforts in creating enabling environment for the Nigerian Correctional Service to discharge it’s duties.

 

 

 

 

“Your support for the educational and vocational training of our inmates with a view to making them self reliant and law abiding citizens on their discharge from prison will reduce cases of recidivism and crime and criminality at large.

 

 

“Your assurance to assist the service towards ensuring the successful completion of the Shoe and Garment industry in Aba is highly commendable”, the NCS boss said.

 

 

 

The Comptroller requested Governor Ikpeazu to enlist them in the membership of the state’s security architecture which he said will avail them opportunity to contribute meaningfully in the administration of criminal justice process for the security of the state.
