ENUGU: Christmas, CAN Youths Urge Christians To Emulate Christ

The Youth Wing Christian Association of Nigeria (YOWICAN), has urged christians in the country to emulate those virtues of Christ in this year’s Christmas by giving to humanity especially the poor.

The Chairman, YOWICAN, Enugu Chapter, Chekwube Ani made the call in a Christmas message on Saturday in Enugu.

Ani who described Christmas as a season for expressing love through giving, said, “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son,”.

“Christmas is a time to commemorate the birth of our Saviour, Jesus Christ. The birth of Jesus on earth is a gift of God to mankind.

“Therefore, as we celebrate this Christmas, may we remember to demonstrate love through giving.

“Our gifts can be expressed by sharing material things, kind words, good memories, praying for one another and other responsibilities as bestowed to us in the catalogue of love.

The Chairman maintained as a true christian, we must represent the person we celebrate and in all we do this season, let’s do it with all modesty while putting Christ at the centre.

He stressed christians, especially, the youths should note, “Ye are our epistle written in our hearts, known and read of all men”.

Let us be evangelists in our attitude, conversations, relationship with one another and even in our thoughts.

“The true message of Christmas should always be in our lips and in our hearts and should be guarded jealously,” Ani added.

The youth chairman reminded christians let us not be carried away by the wind of the Season to forget that 2023 holds a lot for us in Nigeria, stressing, It would be a year of general elections.

“Therefore, the Christians must cease this holidays to go and collect their PVCs in readiness for the coming elections.

“We must be willing to exercise our civic responsibilities through voting, adding that our destinies would be made or marred through our active participation or apathy on electoral processes in 2023,” he said.
