Ijaw Youth Council worldwide, IYC has described the call by the Conference of Nigeria Political Parties, CNPP and the Civil Society Organisations, CSOs for the resignation of the Executive Secretary of the Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB), Simbi Wabote as not only a child’s play but laughable.
Recall that in a joint statement by CNPP Secretary General, Chief Willy Ezugwu
and the CSOs Secretary, Alhaji Ali Abacha, the groups demanded that Wabote should step down to allow investigation of alleged perjury against him which he instituted in a court in the United States of America.
But the IYC president, Comrade Peter Timothy Igbifa in a statement obtained by DAILY POST
said the call by the groups was an attempt to raise dust where there is non to raise and warned them not to confuse the people with their antics.
Igbifa stressed that no court in the USA has found Wabote guilty of any Crime, therefore they do not have any loco standing to be judges over a civil matter of character defamation charged to court by Simbi Wabote himself.
According to him, “The move by CNPP secretary, Chief Willy Ezugwu and the Secretary of the CSO coalition, Alhaji Ali Abacha, to tarnish the image of Simbi Wabote, a front line Niger Delta son who has shown quality and class in his service aat NCDMB is not only a child’s play but laughable. We shall not sit and see deception rule in daylight.
“It was an act of raising dust where there is non to raise. I therefore advise the disgruntled parties not to confuse Nigerians with grammar as no court in the United State has found Simbi Wabote guilty of any Crime, therefore they do not have any loco standing to be judges over a civil matter of character defamation charged to court by Simbi Wabote himself.”
Igbifa said the duo should be arrested for trying to deceive the public and cause unnecessary civil unrest on a matter that is in court stressing, “obviously mental officers have a whole lot to do with checking mental conditions of some characters in Nigeria.”
Igbifa however stated the tremendous landmark achievements and commitments of the NCDMB executive secretary Simbi Wabote in advancing development across the Nigerian states saying he has made us proud as an Ijaw man therefore we shall not accept any form of embarrassment.
The statement in parts, “This is the only Agency in the heart of Niger Delta that has operated without political interference. Youths across the country are trained and employed/empowered in various fields of endeavour hence, it is not open to your likes for destruction.
“You must not benefit directly before you protect what is effective in this region.
You claim to be CSO, why don’t you allow the law take its course. This is the time for conscience over the numerous challenges facing us and the call for synergy to stay our focus.”
