Book launch: I will like posterity to remember me – Governor Ikpeazu

As part of activities marking the inauguration of Governor Okezie Ikpeazu for a second term in office, the book titled “People-Centric Governance: Ikpeazu’s Approach”,written by a seasoned Journalist, Comrade Ambrose Nwachukwu has been launched.

Speaking at the event held at the International Conference Center (ICC), Umuahia, Governor Ikpeazu while commending the author,noted that he would like posterity to remember him for his developmental achievements across the state.

The Governor who opined that the essence of governance is to deliver democracy dividends to the people,said he is fully charged and energised to serve Abians.

“I am a firm believer in the fact that whatever policy one chooses to pursue must necessarily and of essence have some socio-cultural bearing with the people that is governed.

“Time is past and gone when you throw infrastructure on people. There is need for a strong feedback mechanism that will help you fashion your strategies and fashion the tools that will help you deliver democracy dividends to the people”,Ikpeazu said.

He encouraged Abia youths to avail themselves the opportunity of acquiring skills through the skill acquisition centres across the state adding that “a good percentage of the Universal Basic Education Commission(UBEC) inflow will be spent on artisans that are capable of learning skills”.

Former Governor and Senator representing Abia central Senatorial District,Chief Theodore Orji while unveiling the book in company of notable Abians said,the book is written for posterity and will outlive the Ikpeazu administration.

The Book Reviewer and Former Vice Chancellor, Abia State University Uturu , Professor Chibuzo Ogbuagu disclosed that the book has 186 pages as well as 336 pages in the 1st and 2nd Volumes respectively.

Ogbuagu while describing Governor Ikpeazu as a gifted administrator said the governor adopted progressive approach in the governance of the state with the aim of bringing development to the state.

Chairman of Occasion Chief Tony Chukwu represented by Mr Eze Okoro,pointed out that governance should be all inclusive with democracy dividends extending to all and sundry and commended governor Ikpeazu for identifying strategic approach in handling issues of the state which he said has resulted in the development witnessed under his administration.
