2023: Princess Ogbu Backs Party Chair, Agballah Insists No Crisis In Enugu APC

ENUGU–The All Progressives Congress (APC) senatorial candidate for Enugu East Senatorial District, Princess Ada Ogbu, has insisted that there is no faction or crisis within APC in Enugu state.

Princess Ogbu, who stated this during a stakeholders’ meeting at the South-East Secretariat of the party held yesterday, said Enugu APC had been working tirelessly to win all elective positions in the state, but lamented that some persons were trying so hard to manufacture a crisis in the party which did not exist.

On the call for the removal of Ugochukwu Agballa as the state Chairman of the party, the senatorial candidate faulted the Director General, Voice of Nigeria,(VON) Mr. Osita Okechukwu’s claim in a recent radio programme about Agballah being dictatorial, saying that it was not enough to canvass his removal as he had not committed any impeachable offence.

Princess Ogbu noted that no sane person would remove a state Chairman of a party six months before the election, unless such person did not have the interest of the party at heart.

“I think that the fact that he is doing this 6 months to the election shows that, it is a manufactured crisis.

“He didn’t accuse Ugochukwu Agballah of anti-part activities, he didn’t accuse him of embezzlement so what is his reason?

“Just for being dictatorial, it seems to be somebody has a very big sense of entitlement, and a false sense of his own importance in the scheme of things,” she stated.

Princess Ogbu, maintained that Enugu state APC since its congress last year had been very strong, focused and working very hard to make sure that the party wins all the elective positions in the State and they had gone a long way.

“In her words, compare Enugu APC to Enugu State APC of few years ago, there is no comparison.”

“So I think some people are trying very, very hard to manufacture a crisis which simply doesn’t exist,” Ogbu remarked.

She added that Enugu State APC had been in the news for the wrong reasons, insisting that she did not think there was a crisis in the party.

“A lot of people have classified what’s happening at this time as a crisis, I really don’t think there’s a crisis in Enugu APC,” Ada Ogbu stated.

While reacting to the purported petition to the National Chairman of the party, Alhaji Adamu Abdullahi, by some political heavy weights in the party led by former President of the Senate, Senator Ken Nnamani, calling for removal of the state Chairman and constituting of a caretaker Committee for the party in the state.

Princess Ogbu insisted that she was not perturbed about the petition, adding that the petition held no water, adding that there were rules, processes and system to remove a party chairman.

She appealed to the aggrieved big wigs in the party to reconsider their stands and join hands in moving the party forward in the state.

“Enugu people have been craving for a viable opposition, they need to have choices and what these people are doing is making sure that opposition is killed.

“You don’t impeach someone because of being dictatorial”

“We’re talking about a system that has thrived on a monopoly and the people that want to maintain and sustain that monopoly have tried to inject a manufactured crisis into the main opposition party, that tells you that this crisis is being staged managed from somewhere.

“But I have a word for the people that are stage managing and manufacturing this crisis: if anyone whatsoever have a hand or sponsoring the crisis in Enugu APC, you just lost your investment, because it would not work,” the Enugu Senatorial candidate insisted.

She reiterated that Enugu APC would not be deterred but will work vigorously to win elections.

“We are not going to be deterred at all in any shape or manner.” she pointed out.

She further urged the National Chairman, Alhaji Abdullahi Adamu, to ignore those trying hard to manufacture crisis in Enugu APC, stressing that the candidates are too focused to be distracted.

When asked if the crisis in the party would affect her senatorial ambition, Princess Ada Ogbu said she was not afraid or disturbed by the activities of the distractors, saying she was mobilizing vigorously with her team.

According to her, she and her team are directly engaging and sensitizing the electorate at the grassroots on the need to support her political ambition, hinting that she is the race to make a difference.
