20 Abia Youths Begin Training Under NDE Vocational Skills

The National Directorate of Employment, NDE Abia State has flagged off the Basic National Open Apprenticeship Scheme (B-NOAS) for 20 unemployed persons in the state.

The beneficiaries would be trained in two skills namely Photo/Video Editing and Fashion /Designing.

In his keynote address, the Director General, Mallam Abubakar Nuhu Fikpo who was represented at the ceremony by the State Co-ordinator, NDE Abia State, Mrs Tessy Wachuku, encouraged the beneficiaries not to rest on their oars but to see that they become professionals in their chosen skill after the three (3) months intensive training.

He congratulated the participants for the privilege to be selected for the training and thanked the Minister of Labour and Employment (State) Rt Hon (Barr) Nkeiruka Onyejeocha and the federal government for making the training a reality.

In a goodwill message, the Director, Vocational Skills Development Department at the headquarters who was also represented by Mrs Modesta Ezekwu encouraged the beneficiaries not to neglect the days of little beginnings but take the training seriously.

The Director expressed optimism that the beneficiaries would not only become professionals in their chosen skills but would also in the near future become Mastercrafts men who will further train others thereby producing a multiplier effect, helping NDE achieve its mandate of curbing unemployment in the Nation.

In a brief speech, the Vocational Skills Development State Head of Department,
Miss Chinyere Selina Onyekwere, also encouraged the participants to make good use of the opportunity given to them as only twenty (20) of them made it to the list out of the many unemployed persons that registered for the training.

Responding on behalf of the participants, Miss Divine Chinonyerem Chukwudi, a photo /Video editing trainee thanked the Directorate and the federal government for the opportunity granted them and promised that they will make judicious use of the opportunity.
