Ukwa-Nkporo was calm, secured under my watch as PG – Hon. Ndukwe.

 

The immediate past President General of Ukwa Nkporo community in Ohafia L.G.A, of Abia State, Hon. James Ndukwe has said that security of lives and property was one of his topmost priority during his reign as the President General of his community.

Interacting with our correspondent in Umuahia, Hon. Ndukwe also said that Ukwa Nkporo community under his administration witnessed relative peace, calmness and every person in the community carried out his or her activities in a serene environment.

Apart from building a peaceful environment, the former President General disclosed that his administration constructed four drainage systems – culverts and gutters along Bikko and Osso Edda road to the boundary road.

Other achievements made during his tenure as the President General of Ukwa Nkporo which ended on 31st December 2023 include: winning a boundary case in August, 2023 between his community and Edda in Ebonyi State, writing to Nkporo community sons and daughters during the COVID-19 pandemic, which also saw a rapid response from them with palliatives which enlivened the spirit of indigent persons, poor, vulnerable and the downtrodden in the community.

“The security of the community was paramount to the Union, so we engaged the services of Abia State Vigilante security outfit and they stayed up to 4 years. The union was giving them stipend of N200 thousand every month for the complete four years to make sure that the community, the palm plantation was secured and it helped our community to be calm throughout our term because we are at the boundary community with Edda people in Ebonyi state.

“We rebuilt Onyirimba Shopping plaza at Ngelenta, built 2000 Capacity Upstairs Ultra Modern Town Hall at Obuma Ukwa Square and also hosted national boundary commission from Abuja in collaboration with the state boundary commission and State Ministry of Agriculture.

We also maintained peace with Our Nkporo Neighbouring Communities like Ndi Nko, Okwoko”, Hon. Ndukwe further revealed.
