As activities continue to build up ahead of the 2023 general elections, the Abia State chairman of the People’s Democratic Party, Rt.Hon Alwell Asiforo Okere, has charged aspirants to remain civil and modest, both in speech and in their conduct.
The Chairman who made the disclosure when a Governorship aspirant, Chief Ncheta Elvis Omerekpe, stormed the PDP secretariat in Umuahia, alongside his supporters, to declare his intention of joining the gubernatorial race come 2023.
According to the party boss, aspirants should carry their selves with dignity and respect,as nobody is bigger than the party.
He said what the party owes the aspirants is fairness and a level playing ground, adding that they should go about their consultations without maligning or insulting anybody, but be focused with their ambition.
Rt.Hon Asiforo Okere,while responding to the declaration of the governorship aspirant,Chief Ncheta Omerekpe, assured him of the party’s support.
Earlier in his speech, Chief Ncheta Omerekpe stated that it was imperative for Abians to elect someone that would enhance and better their lots for the next four years, adding that Abia governorship race concerns all Abians, calling on the party to give Abians the opportunity of choosing their leaders.
Chief Omerekpe who pledged to serve Abians,while declaring his interest to run for Abia Governorship seat in the coming gubernatorial election, said before any candidates is considered to fly the party’s flag, his pedigree and antecedents should be brought to book,so as to avoid candidates who cannot win elections.
Contributing, the member representing Isialagwa North State Constituency, Hon Ginger Onwusibe who led the delegation, disclosed that some areas in Isialangwa North which are flood prone areas,were radically transformed by Chief Omerekpe, making them accessible.
Onwusibe stated that Omerekpe has constructed and asphalted over 20 roads in Isialangwa North Local Government Area, built skill acquisition centres, hospitals, schools among other people’s oriented projects, adding that if elected as the Governor,he would do more.
