Otti Congratulates Re-elected Governors Douye Diri, Hope Uzodimma

Abia State Governor, Dr. Alex Otti, has congratulated the re-elected Governors of Bayelsa and Imo States, Senator Douye Diri and Governor Hope Uzodimma, respectively.

 

Governor Douye Diri who secured victory in the Bayelsa gubernatorial election held on Saturday, November 11, 2023 was declared winner of the election by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) after polling a total of 175,196 votes, defeating his closest rival, Timipre Sylva of the All Progressives Congress (APC), who scored 110,108 votes.

 

Governor Otti praised the hard-fought contest and described the election results as a vote of confidence in Governor Diri’s leadership.

He commended Diri for extending a hand of fellowship to his opponents and urged him to maintain the humble spirit that endeared him to Bayelsans.

 

The Abia Governor also congratulated Labour Party (LP) governorship candidate, Udengs Eradiri, for his courage and encouraged him to build on the experiences gained from the election.

 

Similarly, Governor Otti also congratulated the Imo state Governor, Hope Uzodimma for his re-election in the off-cycle Imo governorship election results, announced by INEC, wherein he was declared the winner with a total of 540,308 votes, defeating the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate, Samuel Anyanwu, who secured 71,503 votes.

Governor Otti who expressed satisfaction that the Imo election was conducted in an atmosphere of peace, also congratulated the Labour Party (LP) candidate, Senator Athan Achonu, who polled 64,081 votes to come third in the election, for his decent performance and show of bravery.

 

The Abia Governor urged Governor Uzodimma to be magnanimous in victory and continue efforts to restore lasting peace in Imo as he starts his second term in office.

 

He pledged to work harmoniously with Governor Uzodimma for the peace and economic development of the South East region.
