Abia State Governor, Alex Otti, has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to inclusive governance and grassroots-oriented leadership while receiving members of political groups loyal to the late former member representing Aba North/South Federal Constituency, Hon. Ossy Prestige.
The meeting, held at the JAAC Building, Ogurube Layout, Umuahia, brought together political associates, loyalists and supporters of the late lawmaker, who paid tribute to his legacy and pledged continued support for Governor Otti’s administration.
Representing the Governor at the event, the Deputy Governor of Abia State, Engr. Ikechukwu Emetu, praised members of the Ossy Prestige political family for keeping alive the ideals and political vision of the late lawmaker.
He described Ossy Prestige as a dedicated leader who committed himself to grassroots service and the welfare of the people of Aba North and South Federal Constituency.
“Being elected into office is a call to service, and the late Hon. Ossy Prestige truly represented that spirit,” Emetu said on behalf of Governor Otti.
The Governor also assured the delegation that his administration would continue to promote equal opportunities, investor-friendly policies and inclusive governance across the state without discrimination.
He acknowledged the contributions of the Ossy Prestige political structure to the electoral successes recorded by the Labour Party in Abia State, especially in Aba North and South, and urged members to remain united and committed to the party’s vision.
Governor Otti, through the Deputy Governor, advised the group to submit a formal memorandum outlining areas where they could contribute to governance, particularly in trade, youth empowerment and security, assuring them that their requests would receive proper consideration in future appointments.
Earlier in his remarks, the Coordinator of the pro-groups and former Director of Protocol to the late Ossy Prestige, Mazi Ikechukwu Kelechi Nwankwo, said the meeting was organized to reunite members of the political structure who became scattered after the death of the former lawmaker.
Nwankwo described members of the structure as committed grassroots mobilizers who had contributed greatly to political victories in the state since 2015.
“This is a team that is committed and dedicated. Once you work with them, you will see the impact,” he said.
Also speaking, the member representing Aba Central State Constituency in the Abia State House of Assembly, Hon. Uchenna Akachukwu, described the late Ossy Prestige as a leader who placed the welfare of his constituents first and mentored many young politicians now serving in public offices.
The Special Adviser to the Governor on Policy and Intervention, Rev. Fr. Christian Anokwuru, commended the group for remaining united after the death of their leader and urged them to maintain the same commitment that earned Ossy Prestige repeated electoral victories.
Former Abia State Chairman of the Labour Party, Mazi Emmanuel Otti, also praised the late lawmaker for defending the interests of Aba traders and artisans, recalling how he helped secure the release of seized goods without demanding financial rewards.
In a vote of thanks, the Director General of the Ossy Prestige Campaign Council, Hon. George Ezikpe, reaffirmed the group’s loyalty to the Otti administration and pledged continued mobilization of support across the state.
The event ended with prayers for the peaceful repose of the late Ossy Prestige and renewed commitment by members of the political structure to sustain his ideals and support the present administration.
Among those present at the gathering was the Deputy Mayor of Aba North Local Government Area, Hon. Christian Chijioke, alongside other political stakeholders and supporters.
