Abia State Governor, Okezie Ikpeazu, this morning, met with 2013-2015 commissioners at the exco chamber of the Government House Umuahia.
The meeting is part of the ongoing engagement of the Governor with former and current government officials in the state.
Governor Ikpeazu, in his address, said that the former exco members are critical to the continuing success of the government, stressing that their services to the state have not been forgotten as some of them may also be called upon to serve again.
“Some of you have capacity to fit into this present government, don’t think that we have forgotten your past service, we have not, at the right time, some of you will join us. Keep your doors open because we will be coming to you from time to time to seek your advice and suggestions on your areas of competence.” Ikpeazu told them.
The Govenror also promised to look into the unpaid allowances of the 2013 set of commissioners.
Speaking on behalf of the group, former Commissioner for Urban Planing, Elder Obioma Nna, thanked the Governor for the meeting and promised that the group is ready to make further contributions if invited.
Also speaking, former Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Barr Eze Chikamnayo, appealed to the Governor to make himself more accessible to them and also look into the issues of who is a “political stakeholder” at various communities in the state.
Barr Chikamnayo pledged his loyalty to the administration of Governor Ikpeazu whom he described as “a star performer”.
