The remains of late Ezinne Ogomnah Enoch Nwachukwu have been laid to rest at her hometown, Umuokworo Choko Village, Abam Autonomous Community, Ubakala, in Umuahia South Local Government Area of Abia State.
The funeral service was attended by family members, friends, community leaders and well-wishers who gathered to honour the deceased and celebrate her life.
In his condolence message, the Secretary to the Abia State Government (SSG), Dr. Emmanuel Meribole, described the deceased as a good woman who lived a meaningful and impactful life.
Dr. Meribole urged her children to take comfort in the fact that their mother lived a fulfilled life. He encouraged them to preserve and build on the good legacies she left behind.
The SSG said her death should not only be seen as a time of mourning, but also as an opportunity to thank God for the long and meaningful life she lived.
In his sermon, the Bishop of the Methodist Church Nigeria, Item Diocese, Rt. Rev. Ikechukwu Nkulo, described death as an unavoidable end for every human being.
Speaking on the theme, “Well Done,” Bishop Nkulo said God had given everyone the opportunity to live and serve Him on earth. He stressed that the way people live their lives is important because everyone would one day give an account of their stewardship.
The Bishop commended the good character and legacy of late Ezinne Nwachukwu and urged her children and other family members to follow her good example. He also prayed that God would grant her eternal rest.
In a funeral oration, the deceased’s first son, Mr. Onyebuchi Nwachukwu, who spoke through his daughter, Chidera Onyebuchi, described his mother as a devoted and committed Christian.
He said her peaceful, tolerant and loving nature would remain in the hearts and memories of her family members.
Late Ezinne Ogomnah Enoch Nwachukwu died at the age of 95. She is survived by her children, grandchildren and other relatives.
