Gov Ikpeazu Has Done Well In Human Capital Development — Aide

 

 

The Special Adviser to Abia State Governor on Human Capital Development, Mrs Joy Nwokocha has commended Governor Okezie Ikpeazu for enacting enabling laws and policies for Human Capital Development(HCD) Initiatives aimed at driving sustainable economic growth, boosting productivity and reducing poverty across the state.

 

Nwokocha, who is also the Abia State Focal Person for the National Human Capacity Development Program, made the commendation,Thursday, during a HCD Induction/Workshop organized for Core Technical Working Groups in Abia State held at the State Planning Commission.

While noting that the adminstration of Governor Ikpeazu has put in place novel programs to accelerate human capital development initiatives,Nwokocha disclosed that the HCD plan has a unified long term vision in relevant intervention areas such as Health, Nutrition, Women Affairs, Social investment program and Education for Employment among others.

 

She added that the National HCD Program; launched in 2018 by the National Economic Council, plays a critical role in addressing poverty, ensuring participatory and sustainable growth with key objectives to increase and implement community, state wide HCD monitoring and evaluation framework.

 

Mrs Nwokocha who disclosed that Abia State has fully keyed into the program and performed considerably well among the comity of states in the South East Zone said the Abia Team of the HCD Core Working Group would ensure effective implementation of the program in line with the state governments vision of improving the quality of life and well being of its citizens.

 

Contributing, the Executive Secretary/Permanent Secretary, Abia State Planning Commission, Mrs Nnenna Chikezie stressed in the need for uniformity, collaboration and synergy between members of different Organizations, Ministries, Departments and Agencies inorder to deliver on their set goal within the stipulated time frame.

She urged members of the HCD core working groups to exhibit a high sense of professionalism in the discharge of their duties.

 

Earlier in her presentation, the Regional Consultant, and Former Anambra State Commissioner for Basic Education Prof. Kate Omenugha described the workshop as apt, noting that it would enable HCD Core Technical Working Groups in Abia State to brainstorm on knowledgeable skills for optimal productivity.

Prof Omenugha while commending Governor Ikpeazu for launching the 30 year Abia state Long Term Development Plan as well as enacting polices for Human capital development programs, urged Civil servants in the state to institutionalize HCDs in the workforce to ensure they are domiciled in various ministries for sustainability of the program.

 

The workshop which featured interactive session among Core Technical Working Groups in Abia State was attended by the Imo State Commissioner For Labour and Productivity, Princewill Uzumba.
