Femi Gbajabiamila Resigns from House of Rep.

The former Speaker of the House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila, has officially resigned from his position. Today, during a session on the floor of the House, Gbajabiamila’s resignation letter was presented and read aloud by the current speaker, Tajudeen Abbas.

The decision to step down from the House of Representatives comes as Gbajabiamila prepares to assume his new role as the Chief of Staff to the President.

Questions had been raised regarding Gbajabiamila’s ability to effectively manage both positions, especially considering that he had recently been inaugurated as the Speaker alongside his fellow colleagues and had even participated in the House’s leadership voting process.

To address these concerns, Gbajabiamila has tendered his resignation, which now requires the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to organize a fresh election to fill the vacant position representing Surulere 1.
