EPL: Chelsea Draw Man City in Eight Goal Thriller

Cole Palmer won the man of the match and rightly so, as his stoppage-time penalty earned Chelsea a point in their thrilling encounter with defending champions, Manchester City at Stamford Bridge.

 

The Citizens took the lead in the 25th minute when they were awarded a penalty after Marc Cucurella’s pull on Erling Haaland.  Haaland converted from the spot with a remarkable aplomb.

 

The host restored parity four minutes later when Brazil centre-back Silva, glanced home Conor Gallagher’s corner.

 

Raheem Sterling gave Chelsea the lead when he turned in Reecw James’ cross to score against his former club. But just before half time, Manuel Akanji headed in Bernardo Silva’s cross to ensure that both teams ended the first half 2-2.

The defending champions thought they will leave Stamford Bridge with all three points when Rodri’s strike deflected off  Silva and entered the net.

 

City’s defender Ruben Dias was penalized for a foul on Armando Broja and man of the match, who was the tormentor in chief, Cole Palmer converted from the spot to ensure that the thrilling encounter ended 4 – 4. I

In other matches, Liverpool brushed Brentford aside 3-0 as Brighton and Sheffield United played out a 1-1 draw. Aston Villa defeated Fulham 3-1.

 

On Saturday, Wolves came from behind to devour Tottenham Hotspurs 2-1 as Arsenal defeated Burnley 3-1.

 

Crystal Palace lost 2-3 at home to Everton as Manchester United defeated Luton by a lone goal.

 

Bournemouth shocked Newcastle United 2-0.
