ASEPA Boss Describes Nnenna Otti Bus Terminal as Gateway to Economic Growth
The General Manager and Chief Executive Officer of the Abia State Environmental Protection Agency (ASEPA), Mr. Ogbonnia Okereke, has described the newly renamed Nnenna Otti Bus Terminal in Umuahia as a major driver of economic development and urban transformation in Abia State.

Mr. Okereke made the remark during an inspection visit to the terminal to assess the level of sanitation and waste management facilities installed for passengers and operators at the facility.
The ASEPA boss explained that the inspection formed part of efforts by the agency to ensure a clean, healthy, and environmentally sustainable transport hub in line with global standards.

He recalled that ASEPA had earlier undertaken a preliminary visit to the terminal to develop a comprehensive waste management plan for the facility, noting that the latest inspection was aimed at finalising the sanitation and waste disposal framework for the terminal’s operations.
Accompanied by the Deputy General Manager, Umuahia Zone, Catechist Ambrose Jonah, and the Director of Operations, Mr. Chidiebere Ogbuehi, Okereke expressed satisfaction with the infrastructural transformation taking place across the state under the administration of Governor Alex Otti.
According to him, the present administration has continued to introduce modern innovations and developmental projects capable of repositioning Abia as a model state in environmental management and public infrastructure.
Responding, the Project Manager of Planet Project Limited, Mr. Shola Adekpoju, assured that effective operation and maintenance of the terminal remained a top priority for the management.
Adekpoju noted that proper waste management and sanitation were critical to maintaining a healthy environment for commuters and visitors using the facility.
He described ASEPA’s visit as timely and necessary, adding that all required sanitation installations and operational measures would be completed within the shortest possible time.
He further explained that efficient waste generation, collection, and evacuation systems were essential in ensuring cleanliness and safety within the terminal environment.
The project manager identified key sections of the facility to include the ticketing bay, waiting area, and departure lounge, all designed to provide comfort and convenience for passengers.
