APC Debunks Reports of Nullified Primaries Nationwide

The National Leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has dismissed as false reports alleging that the party’s National Working Committee (NWC) nullified the recently concluded primary elections conducted across states of the federation.

In a statement issued by the media team of the APC National Secretariat, the ruling party described the reports as misleading and the handiwork of fake news merchants bent on creating confusion and tension within the party.

The party clarified that the APC National Chairman, Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, neither announced nor authorized the cancellation of any primary election results from any state chapter of the party.

According to the statement, the reports were deliberately fabricated by political mischief-makers seeking to mislead party members and the general public after the successful conduct of the primaries nationwide.

“It has come to the notice of the national leadership of the All Progressives Congress that fake news merchants are circulating false claims suggesting that the National Chairman of our great party has nullified the results of the primary elections conducted in various states of the federation,” the statement read.

The APC leadership stressed that the National Working Committee does not arbitrarily cancel primary election results except in situations where there are officially established irregularities supported by reports from duly constituted election and appeal committees.

“The primaries conducted across the federation remain valid, as it is not within the powers of the National Working Committee to arbitrarily nullify primary election results except where there are contrary reports from the election committees and appeal committees,” the statement added.

The party reassured aspirants, stakeholders, and members that there is no crisis or disagreement over the results submitted from various states, noting that all legitimate reports received by the party are being handled in line with the APC constitution and electoral guidelines.

The APC also warned individuals and groups allegedly spreading false information with the intention of extorting aspirants or misleading party faithfuls to desist from such activities.

According to the statement, the ruling party remains committed to protecting the integrity of its internal democratic processes and safeguarding the interests of members who participated peacefully during the primaries.

The party further commended delegates, members, and supporters across the country for their orderly conduct and massive participation during the exercises, describing the turnout as a reflection of the unity and strength of the APC ahead of the 2027 general elections.

“The National Leadership of the All Progressives Congress assures all party faithfuls who came out en masse to vote for their preferred candidates during the just concluded primary elections that their mandates and interests will be protected and defended at all times,” the statement concluded.

The APC urged members of the public to disregard the reports and rely only on official communication channels of the party for authentic information regarding party activities and decisions.
