Abia HoS, Wamah, Visits ANPC, Reads Riot Act

Abia State Head of Service, Sir Onyii Wamah,  has directed the Management of Abia Newspapers and Publishing Cooperation to stop forth salary of staff of the cooperation known to have abandoned their duties post for some time now.

 

Sir  Wamah  gave the directive through  the Permanent Secretary, Bureau  of Common Services, Deacon Uzoma Isiakpu, who led a team of the Servicom  for an unscheduled visit to the corporation.

 

He made it clear that the Head of Service upholds punctuality, dedication, commitment, excellence and loyalty in the service warning that government was not a Father Christmas, that would be paying non-committed staff that are not ready to come to work and carry out their assigned responsibilities.

 

The Head of Service further directed  the Editor of Abia Newspapers, Mr Kingsley Ugorji,to rejig the Editorial department,stating that despite the fact that the Reporters are  field staff, there was no reason only two Reporters would be in the office at the time of their visit and directed   the Ag.Head of Admin to submit to them list of staff who have abandoned their duty posts before their departure from the corporation.

On the issue of the stoppage  of Probates  from the High court,Sir Wamah promised to visit  the new Acting  State Chief Judge  and the Registrar, to sort out the issue stating that despite the publication of their own “House Journal”,it should not hinder the publication of probates in the National Ambassador Newspapers.

 

The leader of the team equally promised to brief the Head of Service on the need to implement the directive on MDAs and consider National Ambassador on their first charge in advert placement.

He said that it was wrong  to take adverts to Abuja and Lagos  newspapers at the detriment of the state owned newspaper  and such encouraged capital flight in the state.

 

Sir Wamah  promised to reach out to the corporation’s parent Ministry on the dilapidated leaking roofs and  obsolete equipments, hindering their operations and commended the Ag. General Manager for his able way in piloting the affairs of  the corporation and urged him to redouble his efforts.

 

 

Earlier, the Ag.General Manager, Mr Francis Nwaogu, enumerated his efforts to reposition the corporation and cited the problems of the dilapidated roofs which has made the office to be submerged anytime it rains ,obsolete equipments, as the newspaper  house have to hire generating set and computer during production, lack of mobility and poor attitude to work of some staff.
