Abia Governor Receives National Sports Festival’s Touch Of Unity

 

 

Abia State Governor, Dr Okezie Ikpeazu has formally received the Touch Of Unity for the 21st National Sports Festival tagged Delta 2022.

Speaking while receiving the Touch from the Abia Team delegation during a brief ceremony held at Government House, Umuahia, Dr Ikpeazu reiterates that Abia State is determined not just to participate in the Sports Festival, but to excel in that competition and bring back laurels to the State.

The Governor represented by his Deputy, Sir Ude Oko Chukwu pointed out that, as a sport loving government, the present administration has given the Team Abia delegation all the necessary preparations, encouragements and logistics that will enable them perform very well in the forth coming competition.

He used the forum to commended the Abia Athlete, Onyinyechi Mark that did the State proud at Cairo Egypt by winning 4 medals and encouraged all sport lovers participating in the festival a very successful outing.

 

The Chief Executive appreciated their Sister State of Delta and host of the festival for providing the enabling environment and all that is needed for the competition to be successful one as well as the media for creating the needed awareness.

In their remarks, the Commissioner for Sports, Chief Karibe Ojigwe and the Director of Sports, Mr Isaac O Isaac said the State receiving the Touch of Unity is a prelude to the National Festival and promised that Abia will once again set records at the end of competition.

Also speaking, An official from National Headquarters, Mrs Amaka Ashodu who disclosed that they came to hand over the Touch which signifies peace and unity to Abia State lauded the State Govt for empowering Abia Athletes and Officials that will be attending the Festival and urged the Team to continue to make Abia proud.
