The Commander National Drug Law and Enforcement Agency, Abia State command, Mr. Chidi Nnadi has extolled the passion and commitment of the wife of Abia State Governor, Mrs. Priscilla Otti, to eradicate illicit drugs in the society.
The NDLEA Boss, said that he got a call from the Governor’s wife to look for one Miss. Glory Benjamin who was trending on the social media, roaming the street of Asaba, Delta State for drug abuse.
On locating the Lady, we ran a test on her and found out that she was abusing 3 different drugs, methamphetamine, cannabis and cigarettes which has taken a devastating toll on her health.
Miss. Glory Benjamin currently undergoing rehab at the NDLEA facility, Aba.
The said Lady is now undergoing rehabilitation at our facility in Aba with her treatment fully paid by the wife of the Abia State Governor.
Mr. Nnadi, noted that in as much as drug abuse is high in the State, it is not particular about any State or country rather a global menace that needs all hands on deck to eradicate.
He explained that his agency is fighting the menace through supply reduction and demand suppression adding that 40, client are currently going through rehabilitation while 60 are waiting for admission with 40 pedlars already convicted.
The Commander, said that apart from devastating health impacts of drugs, rehabilitation and treatment for drug abuse is very expensive and advised youths to abstain from getting into drug use.
However, Commander Nnadi, commended Mrs. Priscilla Otti and Abia State government for providing the agency another facility in Umuahia for drug treatment and rehabilitation.
Meanwhile, 2 client(name withheld) who spoke to National Ambassador Newspaper revealed that there are no gain doing drugs, rather it destroys life, career and dislocate you from families and loved ones.
