From Shame to Pride: A New Chapter for Abia State

There was a time when many people from Abia State found it hard to speak proudly about where they came from. For those of us who traveled often, the simple question, “Where are you from?” sometimes felt uncomfortable. That period was marked by serious decline and disappointment. Roads were filled with potholes and were hardly passable. Public spaces were dirty and neglected. Basic services did not work well because of poor maintenance and weak leadership. Businesses suffered as transportation became difficult, and daily life was stressful for many families. Over time, these problems damaged the image of the state and reduced our confidence and pride as Abians.

Many of us struggled to find reasons to be proud of our state. It was so painful to me in particular to see how backward things had become, especially in infrastructure. For some frequent travelers, it almost felt like a shame to mention Abia State because of its poor condition.

Today, the story has changed under the leadership of Alex Otti. What used to be a story of decline is now becoming a story of renewal and hope. Across towns and villages, roads that were once impassable are being repaired or rebuilt.Transportation is easier, businesses are moving again, and streets are cleaner. Public spaces are being improved, showing that the government is paying attention to the needs of the people.

The change is not only about roads and buildings. There is also a new style of governance. Government offices are becoming more responsive and open. There is more focus on planning, discipline, and clear results. Projects are better organized, and there is greater accountability. Civil servants are expected to do their jobs properly, and communication between the government and the people has improved.

For traders, better roads mean they can move their goods more easily and at lower cost. For workers and commuters, travel time is shorter and safer. For families, a cleaner environment and improved public services bring hope for a better future. In many communities, people feel that development is no longer just a promise but something they can see and experience.

This transformation goes beyond physical projects. It reflects a deeper change in how the government works. Decisions now seem to be guided by careful planning and long-term goals rather than quick fixes. Projects are not just announced; they are followed through and completed. There is more attention to order, cleanliness, and public responsibility.

Although challenges still remain, hope is growing across Abia State. Years of frustration cannot disappear overnight, but many people now see real progress. Abia is no longer widely seen as stagnant or forgotten. Instead, it is increasingly viewed as a state moving forward on the path of growth and renewal.

For many Abians, the most important achievement so far is the return of confidence in their leaders, confidence in their communities, and confidence in the future of Abia State. After years of disappointment and frustration,Ndi abia are beginning to believe that positive change is possible, solid road can built, pensioners can get there monthly pension and that their efforts and voices matter.

This confidence is more than just hope,it is a sense of pride in being from Abia State.Ndi abia are once again speaking proudly about their state,From a time when many felt embarrassed or discouraged about their state, Abia is now moving toward a future filled with dignity, opportunity, and progress.

From shame to pride, a new chapter is truly unfolding in Abia State one where citizens feel empowered, communities are revitalized, and the state is steadily reclaiming its place as a growing and vibrant part of Nigeria.
