The atmospheric conditions in Aba and its environ were celebrous, residents carrying placards with different inscriptions, dancing and rejoicing because of the gigantic and people-oriented projects that previous governments could not deliver for decades but were completed within two years under the administration of Governor Alex Chioma Otti, OFR.
The various groups and stakeholders in Aba projects could not hold back their excitement as they talked to our correspondents.
Hon. Oba Moses, President of Abia State Market Association and Chairman of Eziukwu Road Market, said people shut down their businesses and shops to honour the Governor of Abia State for completing Port Harcourt Road, which was abandoned for over 24 years. He regretted the horrible experiences and economic disadvantages the road brought to them.
The union leader eulogized the governor for the two years of eventful leadership and pledged the total support of the association to his administration.
Chief Chinedum Orji, Chairman, Aba Drivers Association, No. 1 – Port Harcourt Road, said they are more than joyous because they used to drive through people’s kitchens and small streets in and around Port Harcourt Road in order to carry their passengers through. He lamented that they used to visit mechanics every other day, and this caused them adverse economic experiences. But today, the story has changed with the construction of the road by the foremost construction giant, Julius Berger Nigeria PLC.
Hon. Munachim Ejim (Okwuoto), Chairman, Ngwa Road Market, extolled Governor Otti’s commitment to developing all economic frontiers of Aba in particular and Abia State at large. He stressed that the construction of both Port Harcourt Road and that of Ohanku has opened Aba for a more robust economic era, which in turn has contributed to the IGR of the state and the resuscitation of moribund business interests. He highlighted that the cost of transporting goods and services has dropped, hence incidences of loss of goods in the course of transit have drastically dropped to the barest minimum.
Also, Pst. Mrs. Nkechi Ogu (Madam Looking Good), the leader, Women Wing of Ngwa Road Market Women Traders Association, praised the ingenuity of Governor Alex Otti’s administration in making Abia State the envy of others. She emphasized that the women would rally round the governor in an unalloyed support to make sure he succeeds.
The liquor dealers at Asa Road by Ehi Road could not hold back their excitement over the rapid developmental milestones of Governor Alex Otti’s administration, especially on road construction and retrofitting. Hon. Chinenye Nwanso Elvis, the Vice Chairman of the liquor dealers, said they are more than excited for the new Abia and pledged their total support for Governor Alex Otti’s administration.
