The maiden matriculants of Lux Mundi University, Umuahia, have been charged to imbibe the virtue of self-motivation to achieve higher academic standards and success in life.
Governor Dr. Alex Otti stated this during the unveiling of Lux Mundi University, the investiture of the Chancellor, Archbishop Lucius Ugorji, and the maiden matriculation ceremony held at Lux Mundi University, Ndagbo Afaraukwu, Umuahia.

Represented by the Secretary to the State Government, Prof. Kenneth Kalu, Governor Otti urged the students to remain focused and congratulated them for being the pioneer students of the institution.
He emphasized that the establishment of the university aligns with his vision of revitalizing the education sector to enable students from the state to compete favorably with their counterparts nationally and internationally. He also commended the founder, Prof. Gabriel Okenwa, for his achievement in establishing the institution.

In his speech, former Governor of Imo State, Dr. Ikedi Ohakim, after whom the Faculty of Management Sciences was named, pledged his continued support to the university and expressed hope that it would become one of the best in West Africa.
Earlier in his remarks, the founder and Pro-Chancellor of Lux Mundi University, Professor Gabriel Okenwa, stated that the university stands on a foundation that extends beyond academic rigor, with the goal of illuminating humanity. He expressed gratitude to Governor Alex Otti for his sustained support, as well as to the traditional rulers in Umuahia and all who contributed to making his vision a reality. Prof. Okenwa assured that they would do their best to ensure the university becomes a great citadel of learning.

In his speech, the Chancellor of Lux Mundi University and Archbishop of the Owerri Catholic Archdiocese, Most Rev. Lucius Ugorji, expressed gratitude for the confidence placed in him to serve as the Chancellor. He pledged to expand the university’s network of partnerships with local and international institutions. Archbishop Ugorji further explained that the institution’s mission is to nurture graduates of integrity and specialized skills.
In their goodwill messages, the Archbishop of the Methodist Church Nigeria, Umuahia Diocese, Archbishop Chibuzo Opoko, and the Vice Chancellor of Godfrey Okoye University, Prof. Christian Anieke (represented by Rev. Sister Mary Nwachukwu), congratulated the founder, Prof. Okenwa, and his wife for achieving this milestone.

Sharing her thoughts, Miss Chidera Deborah, one of the matriculated students in the Faculty of Law, expressed joy and assured that she would take her studies seriously.
Highlights of the Event included Unveiling of the university logo; Decoration of the Governor’s representative by the Chancellor, Archbishop Ugorji; Foundation laying ceremony for the Dr. Ikedi Ohakim Faculty of Management Sciences and Blessing of the institution by traditional rulers.
The event attracted dignitaries, including clergy members, vice chancellors from other institutions, top government functionaries, academics, and many others.
