217 Students Make Graduation List Of Gregory University 8th Convocation Ceremony

 

Gregory University Uturu (GUU), has graduated 217 students, in its 8th convocation ceremony, out of which eight students bagged first class degrees.

The 8th Convocation ceremony which was held on the 16th of December,2023, at the University’s Pavilion, admitted 2021/2022 graduands into the Convocation.

In his address the Chancellor, Okechukwu Gregory Ibe Jnr, said the 8th Convocation ceremony of the school marks a historic feat,as the institution has not only witnessed remarkable growth, but also the tremendous achievements of over 2000 great minds that walked through the university gates.

He said the school has seen diverse successes from the students, with the inaugural Lawyers finishing their Nigerian Law School program and as well, their inaugural Doctors getting inducted into the medical profession.

According to him, the school is moving into its 11th year historically,courtesy of the hard work,dedication and pursuit of knowledge by the students.

“Our presence here is a testament to your hard work and dedication. Each one of you has contributed to the vibrant tapestry of our university,leaving an indelible mark on our community. Our students took part in SWEP programs,students’week and many more programs that drive positive impacts in this very community.

“Inside the four walls of the University,you have not only acquired knowledge from textbooks but also gained insights from diverse experiences,forged lifelong friendships and honed the skills that will propel you into the future.Today,we celebrate not only the academic achievements but also the personal growth,resilience and the spirit of inquiry that define you all.

“As you step into the next chapter of your lives,I encourage you to carry with you the values instilled by the Gregory University,to embrace the challenges that lie ahead with the same enthusiasm and determination that brought you to this moment.To strive to solve future problems”.

The Chancellor,however,expressed appreciation to the faculty and staff who worked tirelessly to impart knowledge,mentorship and guidance to the students, as their commitment to fostering an environment of intellectual curiosity has been instrumental in shaping the minds of the next generation of leaders,commending parents,families and friends of the graduands for entrusting their education and development into their care.

Equally, the Vice Chancellor,Prof Augustine Uwakwe, expressed gratitude to God for the progress the school had recorded so far. According to him, the school has advanced from three colleges in 2012 to eleven colleges in 2023 in addition to a robust Post Graduate school that is fully running,following their approval by the NUC in the 2017/2018 academic year.

He said the institution now boasts of various centers of excellence and also witnessed rapid infrastructural development,notable among the projects are the three ultra modern hostel complexes,college of social and management building, the Teaching Hospital complex,though yet to be fully completed,among others.

The VC further congratulated the graduands,having gone through the privilege of being tutored and mentored by erudite scholars, who deployed modern state of the art teaching aids in conducting the act of knowledge transfer.

He said it was a thing of joy to release another batch of graduates, whom he described as a formidable set of global leaders who are after the required years of customized tutelage in the university,are now ready to become transformation agents of the society.

Prof Uwakwe, however,prayed God to grant them success in their future endeavors.

In her valedictory speech, the overall best student of the School with 4.71 CGPA in Law, Iyamba Mighty Edim, thanked the University’s management for the feat and their parents for the support all through the journey as undergraduates.

Edim congratulated her colleagues who stood firm in the face of challenges,urging them to keep their heads high ,pressing towards their future goals and dreams.
